THE weird and wonderful world of online dating will be explored in a special comedy theatre production created by a dynamic dance and theatre duo.

Staged at Kendal's Brewery Art Centre on Tuesday, February 10 (8pm), Lonely Hearts - put together by innovative Kendal physical theatre company The Knotted Project - follows a gawky group of loveable loners as they play the dating game on the World Wide Web.

The pitfalls of using the internet to find love are laid bare as the quirky characters search for their special someone in virtual chat rooms.

The Knotted Project comprises Simon McElligott and Natalie Morrell, who have built a reputation as one of the most exciting young theatre companies in the region, known for their innovative use of mime, poetry, music, and exciting dance and drama. Their skills have seen them perform at venues across the region, including Mintfest.

The production has been made possible through funding from the National Lottery via Arts Council England and it is being developed as part of a special emerging artist project at the Brewery where they also run weekly physical theatre classes.

Simon said they were really excited about their first ever performance at the Brewery. He added: "Lonely Hearts is a fast paced show full of fun, energy and our trademark cheeky charm. The audience is in for a real treat.”

Brewery Youth Arts manager Tricia Gordon said that they were delighted to have been supporting Simon and Natalie's new company over the last 12 months: "It’s also a great testament to the youth arts provision here that Natalie, who started in theatre and dance at the Brewery when she was 11, can now inspire a whole new generation of young people in South Lakeland.”

Following the Brewery performance, Lonely Hearts will tour the north west.
