SINGER/songwriter Richard Dawson will be playing a live show at Ulverston Sports and Social Club, along with support from Little Hero.

The show is a fundraising event in support of RNIB, and is being organised by local musician Phil Powell.

Richard Dawson was, until he appeared at TUSK and Supersonic festivals in 2012, the North East of England’s hidden jewel — a skewed troubadour who sings and plays guitar with a rare intensity and singular, nerve jangling style.

Since then, he’s carved out a reputation as an important and unique voice in the UK music scene. He assaults the ears with a barrage of musical expression and personality which leaves audiences mesmerised.

Of his recent, 2014 album Nothing Important, Rolling Stone wrote that he "has made one of the most unique singer-songwriter records in recent memory" and MOJO acclaimed it as "a remarkable record".

Richard will be visiting Ulverston for this one-off gig, in the run-up to his full-blown UK tour.

Joining Richard on the bill will be Little Hero, the solo incarnation of Peter Rawlinson - a solid fixture of the Northwest music scene, most recently fronting ten-legged psychpunk noise machine Three Dimensional Tanx.

The event takes place on January 29 – tickets available online at http://www.seetickets.com/go/dawson.
