KATY Cawkwell tells the epic tale of Hallgerd in The Falcon Bride on February 6 (8pm) as part of Lancaster Arts City's First Fridays programme.

Under the roof of The Storey, Katy delivers the story of the beautiful, fierce and deadly, Hallgerd, not a woman to be taken lightly, apparently ripping through husbands like a falcon through its prey. But, offers Katy, has she met her match in Gunnar, a true Viking hero? These gripping episodes from the great Icelandic Saga of Njal are in turn darkly comic and tragically romantic, giving listeners a fascinating glimpse into pagan society in the land of fire and ice.

Katy has been storytelling for 20 years across Britain and beyond, well-known for unravelling complex narratives into compelling, glittering stories that linger in the mind long after they are told.
