A NEW Kendal music events collective, ‘Off the Cobbles’, is due to hold its opening night in Kendal on February 13.

Leeds based folk musician, ‘Serious’ Sam Barrett is crossing the Pennines to play his own brand of Yorkshire-icana live at the Ivy Leaf Club on Kent Street.

‘Off the Cobbles’ is a group of local musicians and music lovers who have joined together, using their skills and contacts to invite to Kendal some of the brilliant, eclectic and diverse musicians who are pioneering their own styles and sounds across the U.K.

These events will occur in a variety of locations from obvious musical venues to the most atmospheric of sonic spaces.

Sam Barrett, described by The Guardian in their Pick of the Week as an ‘Old before his years country-folk fellow who mixes intricate John Fahey fingerpicking with confessional tales of dirty old Leeds’, will be supported at the Ivy Leaf Club by local folk/roots musicians Andrew James and Sam Robinson.
