ARNSIDE Art Group has landed second place in a national drawing and painting challenge.
The competition was sponsored by the Society For All Artists (SAA) and each group entered were given a sketch pad which was designed to be opened and 'lay flat' to give a double spread page on which to produce art. Entitled the SAA Lay Flat Challenge, individual members of the art group each selected a double sided page and completed a picture of their choice.
In addition to winning second place out of the 45 groups which entered, a few individual members of the talented Arnside group won prizes for their work - Brenda Bainbridge for Honesty Seed heads and Denise Heywood for Man with Red Bucket.
Val Bergus's Northumberland Coast received a commendation.
All of the artworks can be viewed on the SAA website at www.saa.co.uk/layflatgalleryarnside.
Meanwhile, Arnside Art Group holds its annual week-long exhibition from Saturday, May 23-30 at the WI Hall on Orchard Road, Arnside.
