SILVERDALE and Arnside Art and Craft Trail will be once again weaving its creative way through both villages this weekend.

Now in its 11th year, the trail has gone from strength to strength, and this time around features more local exhibitors than ever before.

New for 2015 are the Lancs and Lakes Guild of Spinners, Weavers and Dyers, who will be providing a host of hands on demonstration and informative talks.

Also fresh to the trail, visitors can try their hand at Draw and Explore, creating their own art work as they go around and experience the trail.

Running from Friday, June 26, from 1pm-8pm, and Saturday and Sunday, June 27-28, 10.30am-5.30pm, SAACT is coordinated by esteemed local artists Debbie Copley and Clare Martin.

The aim of the popular event is to encourage creativity within the community, promote and showcase the work of amateurs and professionals within the AONB and, to bring a wide range of arts and crafts within everyone's reach.

Venues taking part include Silverdale Golf Club, The Silverdale Hotel, Silverdale Village Institute, Gaskell Hall, Silverdale CE School, RSPB Leighton Moss, Leeds Children’s Holiday Centre, the WI and EI halls at Arnside, the excellent Gallery H on Arnside promenade and Storth Village Hall - just to name a few.

From painters to potters, glass artists to jewellers, sculptors and furniture makers, stone carvers, blacksmiths and photographers, all are represented in the three-day trail where artists and artisans open the doors to their homes, studios and exhibitions.

Leading Lakeland artist Tracy Levine's new painting of Arnside Bay will be on show at High Bank Cottage, Arnside, alongside her various other new works and new limited edition prints and cards.

Multi-media artist and gifted printmaker Angie Mitchell is in the exciting line-up at Arnside's EI and it's good to see John Baldwin return to the exhibition trail, showing work at Waterslack Farm, Silverdale.

Rex Marsden is also involved in the trail moving away from painting this time to showing a range of sculptures in the form of a framed picture at Hawthorn Bank Cottage on Silverdale's Cove Road.

And the ancient cultures and mythology-inspired work of sculptor and ceramic artist Wyn Abbot, is on show at Silverdale's Wolfhouse Gallery. Her highly detailed Raku fired figures and stoneware pieces have become collectors items and she has won several awards for her work including national awards.

On show at Leeds Children's Holiday Centre tomorrow (from 5pm-8pm) will be the fabulous functional pots and tableware of Jan Burgess, the colour drenched pastel landscapes of Duncan Ibbotson - who had lessons from the master pastellist Christopher Assheton-Stones - and the bold prints and delicate floral textile designs of Julie Spencer.

Among the impressive array of artists showing at Storth Village Hall will be Olympic artist Christine Rooney and abstract painter Delcia McNeil, whose engaging work is inspired by metaphysical and human themes.

Meanwhile, on Friday night (8.15pm), there's a 'trail' concert at St John’s Church, Silverdale, featuring Harper4 - Music for Harps, Silverdale Village School, pianist David Barfoot, Limestone Pavement Folk Group, Barbershop Beatles, violin music courtesy of Wendy Cann, accompanied by Ann Bond, The Songbirds and Silverdale Choir.
