SOME of the region's top musicians and singers are in the line-up for Cartmel Priory’s spectacular Magna Carta Celebrations, which run from tomorrow Friday (September 25) until Tuesday, September 29.

Kendal's Amabile Girls Choir are in the spotlight tomorrow night (Friday, 7.30pm), La Serenissima - one of the UK’s leading historical performance ensembles directed by Adrian Chandler - perform on Saturday (7.30pm), top brass Flookburgh Band are centre stage on Monday (7.30pm) and musical director Ian Jones (pictured) and the outstanding voices of Levens Choir will raise the Priory roof during Tuesday evening's Festival Celebration Songs of Praise.

Also featured will be a dazzling display of flower artistry illustrating the influence of Magna Carta. The tableaux will include significant art and artefacts to highlight cultural, historic and scientific context, including the significant contributions played by publications, literature, poetry, music and the performing arts. Short performances will be staged throughout the festival, including two sessions by Ian and Margaret Jones playing folk tunes on Friday at noon and 2pm.
