LANCASTER-born band Lake Komo are well on their way to making a splash in 2016 as they traverse the North of England on their first tour.

Recently announced as one of Radio X’s ‘Great X-pectations of 2016’, the band have been on the road since the end of January, with dates at the Ferret in Preston on February 19, and Manchester’s Soup Kitchen on March 12.

The band, including Kendal College graduate Jess Gould and Queen Elizabeth, Kirkby Lonsdale, sixth form student Pete Bentley, have previously played summer festivals, including Kendal Calling and Bestival.

Jay Nudd, lead singer, said: “We’ve never really done a proper tour, we supported Eaves last year.

“This year we want to push on and this tour is a result of that.”

Relocating from Lancaster to Manchester last year, Lake Komo have been steadily building a growing fanbase in the North West.

Last year saw them supporting the likes of Jack Garratt, Boxed In, Hidden Charms and Eaves, as well as festival appearances at Liverpool Sound City, Y Not and further afield.

As the band’s sound has progressed from humble acoustic beginnings, so too has their live set.

Their recent EP Ritual (out now on Columbia) showcases expansive, bold arrangements, lush electronic soundscapes act as an impressive backdrop for their emotionally driven songs and soulful vocals.

Their new single, ‘Resurrect’ was premiered on The Line of Best Fit, who described it as a move from acoustic gems into the world of ‘synthpop’.

“The band are now embarking on a journey into the unknown with electrifying experiments.

“’Resurrect’ is massive. It's an urgent, all-in kind of offering with tension and emotion in spades. Mixing R&B croons and gigantic, organic percussion, there's a size to their sound that recalls The Weeknd's recent material or Alex Clare's dub-pop fusions - the kinds of noises that are purpose-built for arenas, stadiums, and cider-soaked festivals.”
