CAROL Gaston is a versatile and accomplished self taught artist. After suffering a serious back injury which has left her in chronic pain much of the time she turned to painting as a way to cope and distract.

From beautiful landscape studies to Steam Punk influenced complexity, her stunning collection of work is on show at Space2Create, testament to how creativity can help in dealing with adversity.

Carol uses either oil on canvas or acrylic on canvas. Her landscapes are oil and the more steam punk, surreal type pieces tend to be acrylic.

Carol's exhibition runs at Unit 31, The Factory, Aynam Road, Kendal, until May 6.

The exhibition is in the Space2Create gallery is open to public on Wednesdays and Friday mornings, from 9am-noon and Saturday afternoon 1pm-4pm. People can also email or telephone to arrange a visit at other times.

Space2Create was started in 2012 after Kendal-based mental health charity, Workbase, closed due to financial cuts. Some of the volunteers, staff and trustees felt that a large number of people would be left isolated because of this and so formed Space2Create based around creative activity.
