ONE of the biggest names in region's arts world is back on the exhibition trail with a fascinating show at Kendal Museum.

Ian Walton's Memory Lines features miscellaneous found objects and personal collections which are interpreted through constant exploration of materials and processes. Through the exhibition, the highly regarded Ambleside-based artist flies the flag for museums as important places of fascination and discovery and aims to fire the imagination of young and old alike through their collections of natural, scientific, artistic, extraordinary or even just everyday found objects of interest. His glass boxes and domes are directly influenced by the archives and artefacts found in Kendal Museum or hold a personal significance. Meanwhile, the paintings and assemblages are often autobiographical, containing narrative elements recalling incidents, places or memories over time as echoed in the museum collections.

Running until June 11.

Kendal Museum is open Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-4pm.
