AN acclaimed young folk trio will tour through Ulverston in support of their third studio album.
Jaywalkers, who were finalists in the BBC Young Folk Awards, will be coming to Ulverston Live Music to play music from their album 'Weave'.
The band features Mike Giverin on mandolin, guitar, and backing Vocals; Jay Bradberry on fiddle, guitar and lead vocals and Lucille Williams on double bass and backing vocals.
They fuse elements of Bluegrass, Folk and Old-Time to create music rooted deeply in tradition.
Most of their songs are written/inspired by stories and poetry from Mike’s home county of Lancashire. The main theme running through the album is a study of the hardships of life in the Lancashire working classes.
There are moments of playful respite – their instrumentals are fast, playful up-tempo tunes – but the songs tell tales of protest, poverty, fight for freedom and, as is inevitable with folk songs, death.
This third album finds the band working with an established producer - folk legend Andy Bell - for the first time thanks to their winning of the Emerging Excellence award.
