THE Art of the Lacemaker and Carole Dawber’s stunning recreation of the flower border through contemporary appliqué and free-form hand stitch are the two must-see summer exhibitions at Farfield Mill.

Let’s Celebrate! - the 40th anniversary exhibition of the Lace Guild - also incorporates the winners of the John Bull Trophy Competition, and is the only opportunity in the UK to see the beautiful, intricate work of the lace makers. Demonstrations will be held on most days; for details telephone the Sedbergh arts and heritage centre on 015396-21958.

Meanwhile, Carole's Planted and Picked graces Farfield's sought after spaces exploring the riotous tangle of colour and texture that the garden flower border brings each season from the first snowdrops in spring through to the heady blossoms of summer. Each flower has been reinterpreted in hand-dyed silk in a myriad of tonal colour and hues.

Farfield Mill is open daily from 10.30am-5pm.
