SPACE2CREATE'S latest exhibition H2O+S2C=Creativity (Just Add Water) features a wide range of styles and media with the theme of Water running throughout.

From landscape to abstract, oil paint to paper cuts, the artwork has been produced by local artists and groups using Space2Create's Unit 31 at Kendal's new home of burgeoning creativity - The Factory on Aynam Road.

Some of the work is inspired by the local landscape and recent flooding, some reflecting the varied and beautiful form taken by water in our world, some a surreal and abstract interpretation of water and some with really strong personal stories reflecting the nature of the work we do with our service users in using creativity as part of their recovery. As ever, having service user work sitting alongside the work of local artists adds an extra dimension to the work of S2C as it gives those service users participating a massive boost in self esteem and helps them to move forward with improved confidence in their recovery as does any coverage in the gazette!

Of particular note is the Whinfell Art Group. Their artwork is particularly moving as they were flooded out of the Whinfell Centre in the December floods. The group consisting of adults with learning disabilities started to use the unit in January. They have produced a series of large collages that reflect the emotion and turmoil of the floods using debris as part of some very colourful and inspiring pieces.

The exhibition runs until mid-October. Opening times vary. For details check website www.space2create.co.uk.
