THE vocalist of a successful rock band will tour his solo show this autumn, playing a show in Cumbria.

Dave McPherson, who fronts Essex band InMe, will play at Lounge 41 in Workington on September 28, supporting his latest EP.

Copies of the EP, named 'Give it Time, Time it Gives', will be available at the gig, where Dave will play the new songs as well as numbers from across his back catalogue.

Dave said: "I've been doing one off shows at weekends but this is the first full solo stint this year.

"It's a chance to get back on the road and feel like I'm properly on tour, which I love. I'm touring with two close friends who I've played with before. It's like a holiday where we get to enjoy doing what we love most: playing music."

As well as playing his solo sets, Dave is set to tour in celebration of InMe's twentieth anniversary in October. He explained that performing a mixture of solo and band gigs helps maintain variety.

"The two are completely different, and I love both," he said. "Touring with a band is a lot more involved and you need to rehearse a lot more. This solo show will be a lot more relaxed and will also allow me to be more spontaneous.

"When I'm on my own I can change things up and play what I feel like; they are different kinds of shows."

The opportunity to play in Cumbria is a welcome one for Dave, who enjoys playing in locations that are not as often visited by touring bands.

He said: "I don't think Cumbria is as visited by bands as often as it should be. It will be nice to go there. For this tour it is good to get to these places that I haven't visited before. It will be great to be able to make some new friends.

"I will definitely be making sure we get up early to go and explore."
