FOLK fans will be treated to the unusual combination of cello and ukulele this month, as an award winning Canadian duo takes to the road in the UK.
James Hill and Anne Janelle will play four Cumbrian dates, including shows at Ulverston and Appleby, on their forthcoming tour.
Known for their musical virtuosity, harmonies and songwriting skills, the pair marry the sounds of folk and blues with classical.
James Hill grew up playing folk, jazz and blues on his ukulele. Anne Janelle played only classical music on her cello.
In 2009, James and Anne released 'True Love Don’t Weep', an album of duets that garnered a Canadian Folk Music Award for Traditional Album of the Year.
Since 'True Love Don’t Weep', James and Anne have released two solo albums each (James’ 'Man with a Love Song' and 'The Old Silo'; Anne’s 'Beauty Remains' and 'So Long at the Fair') and toured in over 15 countries.
They play the Murton Village Institute, Appleby, on November 18 and Water Yeat Village Hall in Ulverston on November 20.
