THE centrepiece of Keswick Music Society's first concert of 2017 on Sunday, January 15 (4pm) at Theatre by the Lake, is Schubert’s setting of words by Romantic German poet, Willhelm Muller: the tale of The Miller’s Beautiful Daughter.
Die Schöne Mullerin is the story of the wooing of the Miller’s daughter and brimming with Schubert’s endlessly beautiful melodies expressing the joyful and despairing emotions of her aspiring and (of course) ultimately rejected lover. The piece will be performed by two outstanding young musicians supported by the Countess of Munster Musical Trust: rising star tenor Nick Pritchard and talented pianist Ian Tindale.
