A NEW and exciting exhibition opens at Abbot Hall Art Gallery on Friday, April 7, that focuses on one of the true giants of mountain art - Julian Cooper.
Running until July 2, the Kendal gallery will show more than 30 monumental paintings from Julian’s extensive output over 45 years and reflecting the artist’s travels, ranging from domestic-sized works less than a metre high to enormous canvases nearly three metres wide. Some works are of the Lake District, others inspired by journeys to South America, the Alps, the Himalayas and the quarries of Tasmania and Carrara.
