MORE than 250 local children from five schools took part in the Ulverston International Music Festival's Children's Concert at the Coronation Hall.

Saxophone sensation and BBC Young Musician of the Year finalist, Jess Gillam, and internationally renowned pianist and festival founder, Anthony Hewitt, were in the spotlight for the afternoon concert, which was a mix of both education and entertainment.

The budding young musicians watched and listened to both Anthony and Jess as they worked together on a range of music from Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata to the T Rex hit 20th Century Boy.

The illustrious 11-day music festival continues with Anthony back on stage at the Coronation Hall on Friday, June 16 (7.30pm) with the Royal Northern Sinfonia, and Paprika - who unite traditional Eastern European, Balkan, Gypsy and classical music - presents the festival finale on Saturday, June 17 (7.30pm) with an energetic performance of toe-tapping music.
