SIGNAL Cinema at Barrow launches a new film season on Thursday, August 31 (7.30pm) that celebrates some of the best LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) films from around the world. Opening with the Bafta-winning comedy Pride (15), starring Bill Nighy and Imelda Staunton, which tells the true story of the unlikely union between striking miners and gay activists in a Welsh mining town in 1984, Signal Pride! showcases one film a month from August to December. September features the coming-of-age film Tomboy (U), directed by celebrated French filmmaker Celine Sciamma. For full details visit www.signalfilmandmedia.co.uk.
