MANCHESTER Camerata opens the new Kendal Midday Concert Club season next week.

Regarded as the UK's most adventurous orchestra, music director Gabor Takacs-Nagy and his highly rated players perform the first of KMCC's 12 fortnightly Wednesday lunchtime concerts at Kendal Town Hall on Wednesday, October 4.

Well known for innovation, MC's pioneering community programme helps to promote social change in communities. Continually pushing the boundaries of classical music, the energetic and ambitious ensemble pops up in all sorts of places, from concert halls to care homes, and collaborates with a spectrum of artists, from classical superstars like Martha Argerich to iconic band, New Order.

A dedicated and highly sought after chamber music teacher, MD Gabor is hailed for his limitless musical imagination and communicative powers with audiences. He has been keeper of the Camerata's baton since September 2011. He is also principal guest conductor of the Budapest Festival Orchestra and principal artistic partner of the Irish Chamber Orchestra.

KMCC's 74th season continues on Wednesday, October 18 with renowned Dutch violinist's Tim Kliphuis Trio; The Pro Musica Trio perform on November 1; pianist, Joseph Houston, appears on November 15; piano and viola duo, Cordelia Williams and Emma Richards, share the spotlight on November 29; and highly regarded harpist, Oliver Wass and the Pelleas Ensemble, play the series on December 13.

The Kendal Town Hall concerts continue in the New Year with the much awaited visit of the esteemed Royal Northern Sinfonia Ensemble on January 10; popular midday musician Sarah Beth Briggs returns with fellow pianist James Lisney on January 24; chamber music masters, the Gould Piano Trio, perform on February 7; one of Ireland's most successful musicians Finghin Collins, plays Kendal on February 21; the illustrious pairing of musical royalty, clarinettist, Emma Johnson and pianist, John Lenehan return to KMCC on March 7 and the distinguished Piatti Quartet wrap up the 2017/2018 season on March 21.

Performances start at 1pm; snack lunches are available from 11.50am.
