CLAPHAM Art Group holds its annual exhibition from Saturday, May 26 until Sunday, June 3. The group was started in 1949 by Peggy MacDonald an RA trained artist and Cyril Harrington, who was head of art at Giggleswick School. The group is still thriving and meets weekly to paint together and share ideas, critique and explore new techniques. Each year the practising and experienced artists produce new and original work in a variety of media. In addition to fully framed pieces the Clapham Village Hall exhibition also includes sketches, mounted pictures and cards to buy.

Among CAG's talented members is Christine Frost. Her watercolour painting is Tern, Tern, Tern. She says "it's a play on the title of the song Turn Turn Turn, made famous by The Byrds. It seemed fitting as not only are the birds terns, but the image was created by slightly turning and then overlapping the drawing of one bird, several times." Meanwhile, Linda Clemence has turned her hand to mixed media with Hillside Farm, and CAG stalwart for 46 years, Margaret Blackburne, has focused her brushes on the local landscape and Penyghent Shadows, painted in acrylics.

The exhibition is open daily between 11am-6pm. Homemade refreshments will be available throughout.
