LANDSCAPES of the Mind is EM Lafuente's stunning new exhibition of acrylic paintings inspired by the landscapes of northern England, mixed with the Mediterranean colours of where she was brought up.

Running at Sedbergh's Farfield Mill Arts and Heritage Centre until August 28, Elisa says to paint is her inner need to look for balance and harmony both within her and in the picture. Elisa said she started painting as a child, copying her mother during scorching summers in Spain. From 1990, while majoring in law, she continued painting studies at various Madrid art schools. At university she became submerged in Buddhist meditation and after graduating, continued to study the mind in different ways through psychology and yoga. That interest is always reflected in the Kirkby Lonsdale based artist's paintings, mixing the external images with feelings, dreams and memories.
