Kendal-band Leg and the Twiglets kick off our special band feature – after performing their version of Otis Redding’s classic 1960s hit Hard To Handle for our video team.

The six-piece was chosen for the inaugural video after winning a contest organised by Tim Riley – one of the college’s music course leaders.

The rock outfit is currently rehearsing for a gig at Bootleggers, in Finkle Street, Kendal, on December 14, alongside fellow students for a 1960s themed night, with college bands playing various songs by the likes of The Kinks, Nancy Sinatra and Jefferson Airplane.

Leg and the Twiglets – or Band 2 as they are also known – consists of guitarists Sam Armstrong, Joshua Thomas and Kieran Fallows, bass player Steve Pedley, drummer Joe Heaton, keyboardist Jess Gould and singer Nick Fulton.

Nick said: “We have been going as a band for a couple of months since the course started. We’ve gelled well so far and are enjoying it.”

They are making the most of the opportunities provided on the course, which will see them beginning to write and record their own songs as it progresses.

Steve said: “It’s a really good course here, with top of the range equipment available for us to use and the people who run it really know what they are doing.

“We’d all like to get into music as a career. We just want to be part of the music scene, whether that is performing or recording.”
