ZOSIA Wand’s dramatic new work Quicksand is running at Keswick’s Theatre by the Lake until Saturday, February 26, following its successful premiere at The Dukes, at Lancaster.

With Morecambe Bay providing the inspiration and striking backdrop, Zosia said the setting was crucial to the play, which is a love story between a young Englishman, training to be a solicitor in Lancaster, and a Polish woman.

Added Zosia: “I love this place. The landscape and environment affect me very deeply and the description of Morecambe Bay in Quicksand reflects how I feel about the area.”

Zosia - who has had four plays broadcast on BBC Radio 4 - has a Polish mother and is fluent in Polish.

She is a founding member of Word Market, the writers and readers project for South Cumbria, has worked with Litfest in Lancaster and worked with schools and mentorship schemes.

Among the cast is Eithne Brown, who played Chrissy Rogers in television drama Brookside from 1987-1991.
