As a make-up artist and stylist, I am often forced to bend over my clients as they sit below me on whichever chair they have to hand.

As a writer I find myself slumped over my computer keyboard, forgetting to sit in my office chair correctly.

By the end of the day my neck, shoulders and back can be excruciating. Even after a hot bath, the knots in my neck are still there.

It's at times like this that I inevitably promise myself to go out and have a really good massage.

So, how pleased was I to hear of a highly trained therapeutic, holistic, remedial and trigger-point masseuse right here in my village.

Nancy Calderbank is not just there for a relaxing rub, she really knows her stuff, so I decided to put her to the test.

So, to test out her talents, I sent Nancy a hairy, builder friend of mine, who's mangled muscles are knotted tighter than a fisherman's net.

Nancy Calderbank VTCT Swedish/advanced and remedial massage, Unit 7, Staveley Mill Yard (near Wilf's cafe), Staveley, tel 07890-726495.

Find out what Ross had to say about his massage in the Leisure section of the February 1 edition of The Westmorland Gazette.
