FLOWER fans from across the globe can witness the Lake District's famous annual display of daffodils from the comfort of their homes, this spring.

The Lake District National Park Authority has launched Petal Peek, a popular Internet innovation which allows people to explore the area's burgeoning bulbs online with regular online snapshots of the flowers that are festooning the grounds of the Lake District Visitor Centre at Brockhole, near Windermere.

LDNPA web editor Helen Reynolds came up with the idea two years ago and the online feature has blossomed with thousands of people becoming dedicated followers of e-flowers.

"It's a great way of checking whether your favourite flowers are blooming in the Lake District and, if you're flexible, you could time a visit to coincide with a dazzling display," she said.

As well as daffodils, Brockhole also plays host to swathes of snowdrops, aconites, crocuses, narcissus and tulips. Petal Peek is available on the LDNPA website at www.lake-district.gov.uk/petalpeek.
