ONE of the Lake District's most famous characters, Peter Rabbit, turned out to highlight the need for more adoptive parents at an event in Kendal.
County Hall was filled with a colourful array of 38 Easter eggs, plus dozens of balloons and daffodils as the blue-coated children's favourite and a team of adoption experts turned out to chat to prospective families.
Jim Buchanan, Cumbria County Council's cabinet member for Children's Wellbeing, said the chocolate eggs each represented a local child who was in need of a new family and he urged anyone who was "even slightly thinking about adopting" to get in touch.
"We really appreciate the contribution that our adoptive parents make - not just by providing a home for some of our most vulnerable children and young people, but by providing a much-needed service for the council, and in their own communities."
CCC's adoption team manager Jayne Ivory said: "Cumbria welcomes people from a variety of different backgrounds, experiences and circumstances.
"We need people who are able to offer a genuine, lifelong commitment to children."
