Anger and anger management has been hitting the headlines recently with research showing that there is a link between high levels of anger and heart disease.
Leading a healthy lifestyle and learning how to deal with anger can help you feel better and combined with a healthy lifestyle, reduce your risk of developing heart disease.
Here are a few tips to consider.
Take regular exercise such as running, walking, cycling or swimming, but try and avoid competitive activities as these can increase feelings of aggression.
Put your energy into something physical like housework or cleaning the car.
Talk to someone about how you are feeling or express your feelings in writing or painting. Spend time doing things you find fun and enjoy.
If you are feeling particularly worked up' concentrate on your breathing inhaling slowly through your mouth and exhaling slowly though your nose. Practice meditation or relaxation techniques and ensure your get enough rest and sleep.
Eat a varied and balanced diet remembering to include a wide variety of fruits, vegetables and wholegrains.
