Word Market Festival countdown

Make a date with Joanna Trollope at Word Market 2008 Best selling author Joanna Trollope is set to headline at Word Market Festival 2008.

Word Market, launched six years ago, is South Cumbria's very own answer to the Hay Festival, celebrating readers and writers of all kinds - from slam poets and publishers to playwrights and agents.

This year's festival (February 1-9) line up includes novelist Joanna Trollope; poet Matthew Sweeney; ovelist , TV and radio drama writer Jane Rogers; former literary director of the National Theatre Jack Bradley; and author, editor and children's fiction expert Paul Dowswell.

Joanna Trollope, who made her name with titles such as A Village Affair, Other People's Children and Brother and Sister, will be at the Victory Hall in Broughton-in-Furness on February 7 discussing her all time favourite books and giving a reading from her new novel Friday Nights.

In 2008 the festival is being staged at venues across South Lakeland and Furness giving more local audiences the chance to see some top-quality events on their doorstep.

Word Market also runs a programme of live events throughout the year including workshops, master classes and live performances.
