AN ECO-FRIENDLY theme looks set to dominate the Holker Festival this year, as horticulturalists, food lovers and countryside enthusiasts gear up for the biggest and best festival to date.
Set in the grounds of Holker Hall, in Cark-in-Cartmel, near Grange-over-Sands, the festival is shaping up to be the northern horticultural event of 2008, with more than 200 exhibitors serving up food, showcasing impressive gardens and offering helpful gardening tips.
The festival, in its 16th year, takes place on the last weekend of May (May 30-June 1), will see exhibitors and green-fingered guests embrace an ecological theme. On the Saturday, Channel 4's City Gardener, Matt James, will be there to give advice on how to create and maintain an eco-friendly garden.
Horticulturists will not be disappointed with the variety of unusual and interesting plants on display and, as always, the hall's impressive garden will be the star attraction.
