Grand opening planned for Kendal Mountain Film Festival

THE organisers of the Kendal Mountain Festival have announced that this year’s event will feature a grand opening in the centre of the town.

A giant screen will be erected outside the front of Kendal Town Hall and a one-hour selection of this year’s best outdoor action films will be shown from 6.30pm on Thursday November 15.

There will be an official opening by Sir Chris Bonington and to keep with the mountain theme free non-alcoholic mulled wine will be available for all.

“We’re conscious that despite the thousands of extra visitors we bring to Kendal, in previous years there hasn’t really been a central launch event”, said event director Clive Allen. “Similar festivals in Alpine regions tend to get the whole town involved so in the same way we wanted to bring a flavour of the event to Kendal.

“We’ll show a selection of short, entertaining films with plenty of action and excitement – perfect to get kids fired up about the outdoors!”
