Shop owner Charlotte Ronald and pampered puppy Arnold
A DOG lover and her pet pooch have launched a luxury boutique for chic cats and canines.
Charlotte Ronald, 21, and her puppy — a Tibetan terrier crossed with a Pom called Arnold — have opened Wonder Paws, on Bolton Place, in Ulverston.
Miss Ronald, of Barrow, set up the business after finding a niche in the pet accessory industry.
“We’ve got lots of pets at home, cats and two other dogs,” she said. “When I got Arnold I couldn’t find gifts or accessories for him.
“People really love their pets in Ulverston and I thought I would create a store that could offer all the luxuries for dogs and cats that I struggled to find for my own.”

One of my pet hates (pardon the pun) is dressing animals up. I'll forgive the occasional dog coat in bad weather but anything else is just cheap and tacky.

His expression seems to be saying "OMG, what have you put me in now... somebody get me a mirror quick..!"
Are there not laws that protect animals from such indignities?

So if I had a dog, and I took it for a walk in the heaving rain, me wearing a nice coat to keep me dry and good shoes to keep my feet cosy and dry, and let my dog suffer because it is bad that I give it a coat and shoes (I have no dog btw) how am I a better person? Surely neglecting my dog to the weather has laws against more than keeping it as dry as I am.
I am put off by the fact that Charlotte seems to be enjoying the experience far more than Arnold does!

There is no harm coming to these animals by wearing a coat (stylish or otherwise) and most other items sold are toys and beds... Are we all going to jump on this and say dogs and cats aren't allowed pet beds because there should be some law against this kind of cruelty?
I do hope it all works out for Charlotte as setting up a business in these times and at her age is a very brave and risky decision. We are becoming all too "American" and i will be surprised if this takes off in such a rural farming area where historically pets are used for works. Maybe promoting web sales would be worth looking into.

However, in the light of your comments, I looked again, and I can see clearly now that Arnold is in fact wearing a practical outfit that should protect him from the rain, keep him warm and dry, and it has got nothing to do with dressing him up with a BOW TIE, to impart a twee human appearance to a DOG.

:(
The sale of quality practical coverings, and decorated leads and collars is altogether different to playing "dress up" with a pet.
