Multiple cars collide on ice at M6 Carnforth
CARS collided on the motorway near Carnforth this morning as sheet ice created treacherous driving conditions.
Lancashire Police were called at 7.20am after three cars collided in separate incidents on the M6 northbound between junctions 34 and 35.
Officers attended after a black Vauxhall Corsa collided with the barrier on the outside lane.
Less than five minutes later, police were called to another incident on the same stretch of road, where a truck and six cars had been involved in a collision.
No one was hurt in either of the incidents which were believed to have been caused by sheet ice.

Is it just me or is that Corsa above NOT in the outside lane, as stated in the report.

Is this the HIghways Agency that neglected to grit the road adequately or at all or simply stupid motorsts - or both even?

For the 3rd day in a row there's been an accident on the Kendal to Lancaster stretch of the M6, busy road with holiday traffic going home

However, in Windermere this morning, there was a hail shower after a slight drizzle - and the wet soon became ice as the hailstones landed on the damp surface.
Given the hail reported, I can understand how quickly the ice formed.

I'm looking for witnesses to the later accident a few miles further south of the accident in the report.
It happened on M6 Southbound 1 mile north of Jn34 at 8:15am, involving a Black VW Passat, Blue Vauxhall Zafira, and Red Nissan Micra
