THE heritage of one of South Lakeland’s most iconic monuments has been encapsulated in two new information panels.

Interpretation boards have been added to either side of Devil’s Bridge, Kirkby Lonsdale, after a research and fundraising drive by the town’s civic society.

One board explains the Grade-1 listed bridge’s location and history, while the other describes its structure.

Both panels include illustrations to enhance visitors’ understanding of the landmark, described by English Heritage as one of the finest medieval bridges in northern England.

The unveiling was carried out by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Cumbria, Henry Bowring, on Friday.
