FIVE farming lovelies from South Lakeland have stripped down to their wellies and put the phwoar into farming.

And the women - members of Cartmel Young Farmers Club - have issued their apologies to a blushing postie who chanced on their outdoor photoshoot.

Organiser Rebecca Knipe of Allithwaite, explained how the group peeled off on farmland in the Rusland Valley - distracting a passing postman, cyclists and ramblers.

One of the calendars is being auctioned this Friday at a launch event taking place at Cafe Ambio, Backbarrow, from 7.30pm, with pie and peas followed by a disco.

Tickets costing £8 must be bought in advance by calling 0779 141 3163. The event is for over 16's only.

Calendars can be purchased on the night too for £8 or by calling 07791413163 or by sending a cheque in the post.

Cheques for £8 plus £1.50 P&P must be made payable to Cartmel Young Farmers club stating your name and address and sent to Charity Calendar, Laurel Garth, Allithwaite, Grange-Over-Sands, Cumbria, LA11 7QH The calendar will be sold in shops around Cartmel including Cafe Ambio at Backbarrow.

Nothing like this happened when I was a member of Preston Patrick Young Farmers Club(1960's) but that's perhaps why it no longer exists. If it had there is no doubt I wouldn't have grown to my full height.
