TEAM GB water polo player Alex Rutlidge visited her old primary school to open a new playground.
The 24-year-old met children, parents and staff at Burton Morewood School, Burton-in-Kendal, after they raised £20,000 for the facility in less than two years.
Offering space for both infants and juniors, it includes activity centres, recreational games and monkey bars.
Alex said: “It’s great to re-visit my old school. I have happy memories of it – and the new playground looks fantastic.”
Head teacher Sue Woodburn added: “It’s brilliant because the whole village has been really committed to raising the funds.”
