AN EDEN writer and creative writing tutor has won a top book award – with a prize of £10,000.
Sarah Hall, from Bampton, scooped the Portico Prize for Literature, for her short story collection The Beautiful Indifference.
And it was an extra-special occasion as she also won the biennial award last time round in 2010 – making her the first author to have done the ‘Portico double’.
The Portico Prize is awarded to two works – one fiction and one non fiction – based wholly, or largely in the north of England.
