POLICE are investigating a road traffic accident which resulted in the injury of a motorist and closure of the eastbound carriageway of the A590 through Ulverston for an hour yesterday afternoon.
The accident on County Road involved a blue ‘old style’ Mazda MX5, driven by a 20-year-old man from the Ulverston area, which police say pulled out of the Queen Street junction and was in collision with a grey VW Golf. The 36-year-old driver of the Golf, who is from Ulverston, was taken by ambulance to Furness General Hospital, Barrow, for treatment.
Police say the accident resulted in closure of the road and eastbound motorists were diverted onto the westbound carriageway for an hour.
Anyone with information should call PC 1920 Mark Turner of Ulverston Police.
