INSURANCE brokers and estate agents have been targeted by thieves entering their premises on the pretext of selling occasion cards and other items.
Valuables have been stolen from desks in three incidents in South Lakeland prompting police to issue a warning to business owners to beware of the underhand tactics being used.
”It appears that they are establishing if there are any mobile phones or valuable items on display, lying on desks and then covering these with the items being sold and picking them up as they leave,” said a police spokesman. “People who work in an open environment should make sure that they are not leaving any property lying around and lock valuables in drawers.”
Anyone with any information about these incidents should contact Cumbria Police on 101
