THE man pictured in this CCTV image has been urged to contact police over the theft of £2,000 in cash from a Carnforth car park.

A woman who was carrying the money in her pocket did not notice it fall to the ground as she got out of her car at Booths supermarket so she carried on walking into the store.

Lancashire Police said CCTV images then capture a man drive over to her car, park up, get out and pick up the money off the floor.

He is then seen briefly going into the supermarket before leaving and driving away.

The incident happened at around 6pm on December 1.

Officers investigating the theft want to speak to the man shown to try and establish the circumstances of what happened.

PC Peter Bennett, of Lancashire Police, said: “It is not thought the money was handed in at the store and so I would appeal to anyone who may have any information to come forward.

“In particular, I would be keen to speak to the man in the CCTV image as he may be able to help us trace the money.”
