9:50am Wednesday 12th December 2012 in News
By Steven Bell, Senior Reporter
FOUR vehicles were being examined by collision investigators today after a man was hit and killed by a car on the A66 at Braithwaite.
The pedestrian, who police say was aged in his 40s and local, was pronounced dead at the scene after the incident at 5.27pm last night (Tuesday).
He is yet to be formally identified and officers are trying to trace his family.
Cumbria Police said four drivers were ‘helping police with their inquiries’ and that no arrests had been made.
The road was closed until 11.40pm to allow the emergency services to deal with the incident and carry out a full investigation.
Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact PC John Firth at Cumbria Police’s Western Roads Policing Unit on 101.
