Sheep found butchered by side of road

SHEEP farmers are being asked to check their flocks after the butchered remains of four animals were discovered at the side of a road.

Police were called out to the old A66 road at Appleby, after a member of the public reported finding three dead sheep.

When police checked the area, four sheep heads were found which appeared to have been butchered.

Inquiries are now ongoing to establish the owner of the animals. Witnesses are also being sought.
