A WALKER was rescued from Helvellyn earlier today after suffering a suspected broken ankle.
Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team were called to Birkhouse Moor at around 10am after the 25-year-old man, from North Shields, slipped while walking with a companion.
After initial first aid, he was lowered down the fell to a waiting team Land Rover ambulance and taken to the team’s rescue base before being taken by regular ambulance to Carlisle Infirmary. Fifteen members of the Patterdale team attended the incident.
