YOUNG sheep handler Robyn Allen shows off her prize lamb at Kendal Auction Mart’s annual Young Farmers’ Clubs’ livestock show and sale on New Year’s Day.
Robyn, aged 12, from St Annes, won third prize in the under 15s lowland bred lamb category.
North West Auctions managing director Adam Day said he was delighted after nearly 30 sheep were entered.
“The young handlers showed great commitment and pride in presenting their sheep. It was great to see so many under 15s having a go.”
The National Sheep Association chairman and Plumgarths Farm Shop owner John Geldard judged the show before backing his judgement by paying £200 for his champion pick – a Texel lamb from 16-year-old Bradley Thompson, of Poppy Farm, Selside.
