A MAN who died after falling in Great Langdale at the weekend has been identified as 47-year-old Stephen Kevin Aindow, from Southport.
Cumbria Police said Mr Aindow was walking with friends in the Crinkle Crags area at around 12.50pm on Saturday when he fell while walking on difficult ground between Shelter Crag and Gunson Knott.
His friends contacted police who co-ordinated an operation involving the Langdale and Ambleside and Kendal mountain rescue teams and an RAF helicopter.
Mr Aindow died at the scene.
His family has been informed.
A Cumbria Police spokesman said: "There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death at this time and the details have been passed to the coroner."
