Kendal Mountain Rescue called out as snow leaves two women stranded in fells

TWO women had to be rescued from the fells after heavy snow and falling daylight left them stranded.

Kendal Mountain Rescue Team were contacted by police after the two women reported themselves lost in poor visibility on the Kentmere Horseshoe, at around 4pm yesterday.

A spokesman for the team said: “We deduced their likely location from the information that they were able to give us using their mobile phone and by employing a little technical black magic.

“Three groups of team members were sent up from different directions to cover all eventualities.”

He explained that the pair were eventually located just off the High Street path above Gravel Crag.

They were warmed up and walked down to Troutbeck Park, where they were put into landrovers and driven back to their own transport.

The spokesman continued: “All home by 10pm!”

I hope they gave Mountain Rescue a generous donation for their help.
