CHILDREN are walking to lessons at a north Lancashire school more safely after signing up to car dealer Kia’s new ‘walking bus’ scheme.
Rayrigg Motors has teamed up with Wilson’s Endowed CE School, Over Kellet, in a partnership that sees pupils take to the pavements in a ‘bus’-style formation.
The scheme aims to create a safe environment for children while providing healthier school runs to children walking around the village.
Members of staff in high visibility jackets provided by Rayrigg Motors act as ‘driver’ and ‘conductor’ to make sure no one gets left behind.
Head teacher Jo Williams said: “We’re delighted with this partnership, which highlights the growing awareness of the need for us all to follow healthy lifestyles.
“Safety is of the utmost importance and the high visibility jackets ensure our children are seen when out and about.”
