UP to four convoys of abnormal loads will be travelling to the Armisteads Wind Farm near Old Hutton throughout today.

Officers from Cumbria's road policing unit will escort the loads from the M6 at junction 36 to the site, via the A65 and along Helmside Road at Oxenholme.

The route then takes them on the B6254 through Middleshaw and Old Hutton to the wind farm site as per previous loads.

A spokesman said there are potentially as many as four convoys to come through during the course of the day, but the escorts will be completed before 3pm.

"As usual, residents along the route are asked to keep the road clear of vehicles after 8.30am in order not to disrupt the passage of the convoy, and are thanked for their assistance and co-operation in this respect," she said.

"Previous loads have not caused any significant disruption and there should not be any difference with the load movements today."
