A LAND Rover towing a trailer of bullocks overturned on the M6 in Cumbria.
Police closed a stretch of the northbound carriageway near Southwaite Services at 11.40am.
A Cumbria Police spokeswoman said the driver of the Land Rover, a 63-year-old man from Penrith, received minor injuries in the accident and was treated by paramedics at the scene.
The four bullocks all escaped unhurt, she added.
Firefighters from Penrith and Carlisle were sent to the accident and had to free the trapped driver from his vehicle.
A second trailer was requested to transfer the animals to safety after they were tended to at the scene by a vet.
There were delays on the M6 for a time, but police confirmed the road re-opened at 2pm.
The police spokeswoman thanked motorists for their 'patience and co-operation' during the incident.
