The aim of the scheme is to provide young people from schools in South Lakeland with skills that will help them in the transition to a more independent life post-school.

£2,000 to Barnardo’s South Lakeland Service towards running a 'Wellbeing' project to deliver support sessions to families.

£1,600 to the Bay Search and Rescue to help it purchase 15 uniforms for its new youth team, including personal protective equipment and clothing such as protective headwear and safety boots.

Coun Clare Feeney-Johnson, chair of the local committee's children and young people’s working group, which supported the projects, said: “Allocating more than £33,000 will help these groups continue delivering the excellent services they provide to young people in South Lakeland.

“Providing these youth grants is one of the one of the most worthwhile aspects of the work we’re involved in and I look forward to seeing our young people take full advantages of these opportunities.”
